Fill out the form below to join the LGBTQ Studies Certificate program, open to any CU Boulder student and requires the completion of the following course requirements (listed below). Nondegree students must be admitted through Continuing Education to pursue the certificate. Semester course registration for nondegree students is on a space-available basis through Continuing Education’s ACCESS program.

To complete the certificate, a total of 18 credit hours are required, 9 of which must be upper division classes.
There are 2 required courses:

  • LGBT 2000: Introduction to LGBT Studies
  • LGBT 3796: Queer Theory

List below the additional elective courses that you have taken or are that are in progress that will satisfy the requirements for the certificate program. Completion of the certificate requires 4 additional elective courses, of which at least 2 are upper-division.

Pre-approved elective courses are listed in the box on the right sidebar, and current offerings can be found under “courses” in the top menu.

  • Credits earned at other institutions may be transferred in partial fulfillment of the requirements upon approval of the program director. No more than 6 credit hours of transferred coursework may be applied to the certificate.
  • Students must receive a C- or better in the accepted courses
  • No pass/fail credits will count toward the requirements of the program
